Being happy or not happy is your own choice. So, make it!
Get out of your comfort zone
Even if you are doing something important, everyday routine can make you feel that your life has no sense, every day is the same, you start feeling numb and stop wanting anything. These are just some signals that it is time to get out of your comfort zone and do something different! Go to a dance class, do some art-therapy, get involved in a theatre project, climb a mountain – just do something you have never done before and your life will immediately become so much more interesting! We are so lucky, the world around us has so many amazing things in it and one person’s lifetime is not enough to explore everything. It means that there is always something new to find out about even if you are 104 years old.
Start a happy journal
Every child believes in miracles. Every child has tones of happy events every single day, his life is full with positive emotions, he explores the world around him and so many things amaze and make him happy. As we grow older this ability goes further and further away, we get sucked in our everyday lives and feel like there is no time for being amazed with simple things. The thing is, that each person’s life is full of everyday’s small miracles, we just need to make a little effort to notice them. That is why starting a “happy journal” would be a great tool for us to realize how many amazing things happen to us all the time. Writing down all the good moments of the day will help you to find out what a happy and lucky person you actually are.
Set the goals
Sometimes every day routine sucks you up so much that you start forgetting why you started doing something. To-do lists and setting the goals will work great in this case. Make sure to set not only the long-term goals, but also the ones for the week or for a day. Short-term goals are easier to achieve and you can see your result right away. Knowing that you have managed to complete your goal will make you feel proud of yourself and will help you feel much happier about your life.
Eat “happy” food
It is a well-known fact that there are so called “happy” hormones – endorphin, dopamine and serotonin. Eating nuts, bananas, avocadoes, potatoes, seeds, chocolate, eggs, fruit and vegetables with vitamin C will help you feel healthier and happier.
Do not regret
There are so many things in our past we would like to change, there are lots of moments in which we should have acted differently, could have done more. It is important to accept the fact that you cannot change your past, but you can use your experience and learn from it. It is also important not to regret that something good has already happened and will not repeat again. As Gabriel García Márquez said: “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!”
